Video Podcasts: The Benefits for Businesses in Omaha

The Benefits Of Video Podcasts For Businesses in Omaha

With inflation taking a swing at large and small businesses, many business owners are looking for new and creative ways to market their businesses. If your marketing mainly consisted of posting on social media up until now, you have more effective options.

If you already run a marketing strategy that takes a multipronged approach, your Omaha business can find itself without a lot of options. One area that most businesses haven’t taken advantage of yet is a video podcast.

If you’re not clear about what a video podcast is or its benefits, keep reading for a quick look at video podcasting and what it can do for you.

Matt and Ben from Two Brothers Creative recording an episode for video podcasts.

What Is a Video Podcast?

When most people hear the term podcast, they almost automatically think of the pure audio productions they hear through primary audio streaming services or dedicated podcast apps. These audio podcasts typically cover a specific topic or, in the case of narrative podcasts, tell a story through a series of episodes.

A video podcast takes the same basic approach; it simply makes use of a different medium.

Rather than strictly audio podcast production, video podcasts marry that audio with video.

There are a handful of approaches to this.

studio two brothers creative in Omaha

Static Image Recording

Static image recording is a bit of a misnomer, but it gets the basic idea across. You essentially take the audio from a traditional recording and import it into video production software.

Then, you use a single, static image as the visual for the video. The same image shows for the entire duration of the video.

In-Studio Recording

For those with the space or access to a professional recording studio, you set up a video camera in the recording space. You conduct and record the episode as you always would, but with the video camera running.

Then, you can splice together the higher-quality audio recording with the video from the camera.

Remote Recording

One of the more common approaches for capturing podcast videos is remote recording. Again, you conduct and record that audio as you usually would. For the video element, you can employ video conferencing software that includes a recording option.

Any or all of these approaches can work for your Omaha video podcast.

Starting a Video Podcast

Starting a video podcast isn’t substantially different from starting a traditional podcast. It begins by choosing a general topic. For businesses, it’s typically something closely related to either the specific company or industry.

For example, an accountant could start a personal taxes podcast or a business taxes podcast. Once you zero in on the topic you want to cover, you must decide on a format.

While there are a lot of different podcast formats out there, most business podcasts will take one of the following formats:

  • Interview
  • Solo
  • Co-host/Conversational

Remember that while you can stick with just one of these formats, you can mix things up by having someone on to interview with a typically solo podcast.

Video Podcasting Gear

If you choose to launch a video podcast, there is some essential gear that you’ll need. The most common equipment includes:

  • USB condenser microphone
  • Pop filter
  • Decent computer
  • Video recorder
  • Tripod

There is a lot of other gear that you may want at some point, but those are the bare minimum essentials. You’ll also need some audio and video editing software.

Gearing up and learning how to use that gear is often a steeper learning curve than many people want to deal with. In those cases, outsourcing your video podcast production is often best.

With those video podcasted essentials out of the way, let’s dig into the benefits that video podcasting can bring you.

Branding

Video podcasting is an excellent branding opportunity for you. For one, it lets you get the name of your business out there regularly. It also enables you to work on the logo of your company.

It’s also an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your core brand values. For example, let’s say that you’ve built your brand around friendliness. Your podcast should lean into that value by treating guests with much cordiality.

Returning to the accounting business example above, you might embrace professionalism as a core value if you focus on business taxes and accounting. In that case, you’d want to uphold professional standards on your podcast. For example, you’d probably avoid folksy sayings or foul language.

Expanded Reach

Another critical benefit of video podcasting is expanding your reach and building a bigger audience. While it might not be a significant consideration initially, developing a big enough audience on YouTube can turn the platform into a revenue stream for you.

Videos or just video clips are also very versatile. You can post them everywhere on social media, whether Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or even Twitter.

Your video podcast is often a source of ready-made content that can reduce the burden of creating all-new content for multiple social media profiles.

Let’s say that you had a fascinating interview on your podcast. The odds are good that you can pull anywhere from 10 to 30 clips from that video. That’s a lot of easy posts for your social media profiles.

SEO

Any business conducting marketing online these days, meaning just about 100 percent of them, must consider search engine marketing. In particular, you must think about SEO for Google, which controls over 90 percent of the search engine market share and effectively writes the rules of SEO.

While it’s probably an oversimplification to say that Google’s algorithms love video, it’s not much of one. Creating a multimedia podcasting strategy that includes video will generally net you better results regarding page rank results.

Of course, this works best when you create an overall marketing strategy. For example, when picking your particular podcast episode topics, you’ll want them to align or dovetail with other marketing content like blog post topics.

Videos often see higher levels of engagement on social media platforms as well. After all, how often do people you know to share a video over a link to something like a blog post? How often have you shared videos?

Build Trust

Building trust with your audience or customer base isn’t an overnight thing, but video can help with that—human beings like seeing other human beings’ faces. True or not, many believe they can evaluate someone else’s character by watching their faces.

How often have you heard people say, “I need to look them in the eye.” That’s just a variation on the theme of wanting to see someone’s face when they, for example, claim the kind of business they run.

Video podcasting also lets people see you interacting with other human beings. If you seem genuinely interested and empathetic toward someone else, it’ll make you seem like someone that most people want to do business with at some point.

If nothing else, you can tip the scale in your direction by letting people see you carrying out your podcasting.

Enhanced Nuance

If you took a speech class or communication class somewhere along the line, you probably heard that a lot of communication is nonverbal communication. Upwards of 80 percent of what we communicate may happen non-verbally.

While a very expressive voice can overcome some of that gap, it can’t overcome all of it. That means that your average, audio-only podcast loses the majority of meaning that the host and any guests might convey.

Let’s say you use many big hand gestures when you talk, even when you speak in the studio. Capturing all of that on video lets your audience interpret your meanings far more clearly and accurately than simply hearing you talk about something.

The video also lets your audience see the facial expressions of everyone involved. While practiced hosts and interviewers will often develop good control over their expressions, that’s generally less true about guests on a podcast.

An excellent facial expression can add layers of nuance to someone’s statements.

In this episode, of Midwest Mindset (A.K.A. the Omaha Podcast) Jeff Beals from Grow Omaha shares his secret for prospecting new business that actually pans out.

Sales team meeting for prospecting tips.

Prospecting And Identifying your ideal customer

Read the full transcript

Let’s face it: prospecting can be challenging, especially when you’re just getting started, But it doesn’t have to be that difficult! By following these simple tips from Jeff, you’ll be well on your way to generating high-quality leads that convert into paying customers.

The first step is determining who your target audience is. Start by considering their age range, gender, location, interests, and other relevant information that might help you paint a clearer picture of this potential customer base.

Look at which platforms they’re using and what content they engage with. Are they looking for funny memes or severe advice? Do they lean towards long-form blog posts or quick videos? Knowing this information can help you tailor your marketing strategy by ensuring it resonates with them.

This takes us to our next secret for a successful prospecting tactic:

Demonstration of how online prospecting generates sales.

Social Media

Social media is a great tool to build credibility and authority; the first thing to do is to get your social media game going. However, Viewing this as just one part of your overall marketing strategy is essential. You should not rely solely on social media for your prospecting effort.

We will discuss more in-depth the importance of your marketing strategy and social media in Season 2: Midwest Mindset for Marketing.

This being said, traditional methods like Phone calls, face-to-face networking, email, etc., are far more effective ways to prospect new business.

Phone calls

Ahh… the trusty telephone. It may sound old-fashioned, but making phone calls (and yes, video calls and meetings count as well ) is still one of the most effective methods of finding new clients and growing your business.

One significant advantage of using phone calls for prospecting is that it allows you to reach out to people who may not be actively searching for a product or service like yours.

Additionally, leaving thoughtful voicemails (30-40 seconds) can often lead to more replies and conversations than emails or social media messages, which helps build relationships faster.

Be thoughtful with your messages.

Don’t treat people merely as business connections or possible customers; build an actual bond. Consider what you are saying if you want to make a real connection. Crafting a message that speaks to what the other party finds valuable and what they care about is critical.

Starting with something you both have in common can be a great way to get their attention. Maybe it’s a shared hobby or an industry-related experience; whatever it is, use this in your initial message as an icebreaker. This will increase your chances of getting an actual response.

Image displaying how leads, prospects and customers are part of the propecting process.

Follow-up

Having bonded with your potential customers, following up is essential to keep relationships and increase the chances of landing new business leads.

Keep track of conversations, send emails, make phone calls, and follow up on any promises made during the initial contact so that they remember who you are and what you offer.

Get your prospecting game going today.

As Jeff said in this episode, “There’s no bad prospecting tool, just bad execution.” If done correctly, prospecting for new clients can be easy for small businesses looking to expand their customer base.

If you’re looking for a new way to promote your business and find potential new customers, you should give podcasts a try. With more people using online streaming services than ever before, the possible reach is massive.

Most businesses struggle with visibility and growth since they don’t have the resources to market themselves correctly. At Two Brothers, we have all the tools to help you grow and get new excellent leads. We know how to deal with your business with the power of podcasting done right.

How To Make A Business Plan

How To Make A Business Plan

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in business for years, you need a business plan. This will help you set realistic goals and have a clear direction. A well-crafted plan is also essential for getting loans and investments from banks and other financial institutions.

This time in Midwest Mindset (or The Omaha Podcast) we are joined by Tony Schultz from The Nebraska Business Development Center.

Business plan key elements

Read the full transcript

A business plan is a document that outlines your goals, strategies, and objectives. It also contains financial projections.

Now that we’ve discussed the importance of a business plan let’s talk about how to create one. Many different elements should be included in a business plan. Here are some of the most important

Steps for a Business Plan.

Company Description

This section should describe your company in detail, not only what products or services you offer, but what problem in the market you are trying to solve

Without a clear vision of the market and what solution you bring, your business won’t have a strong enough foundation. This is the first thing lenders will want to see.

Target Market

Who is your customer persona? What needs does your target audience have that you can address with your products or services?

Be as specific as possible, and define an age range, gender, preferences, etc. The more information you get, the easier it is for your business plan to take form.

Competitive Analysis of the business plan

What are your peers doing? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What are their expenses and earnings for the year looking like?

This might sound not very easy, but having this information will help your business plan to be realistic and in tune with the market you are competing at,

This kind of analysis may seem intimidating; luckily, we have free help from the Nebraska Business Development Center.

They will help you to analyze your competitor and the market, to set realistic expectations, and provide the proper formats for your business plan.

Brainstorm for a well-crafted business plan.

Write and review your business plan.

Once you have identified all the essential elements, write down your business plan. This will help you stay organized and on track with your business goals.

The ideal length of your plan should be between 7-10 pages, and it must only include relevant information to protect your business. Don’t waste space with the creative processes; banks will be interested in numbers and facts.

Once you have your business plan ready, review it at least once a year. This plan doesn’t tell only the banks and investors where you are going; it also means you what you need and how to adapt. So read it often and make changes if necessary.

Authenticity in Business: Being Yourself Matters

Authenticity in Business: The Magic of Being Yourself

Every small business wishes to eventually become an empire, but not all of them succeed. Why? They try to be something they’re not, they lack authenticity and customers can see right through it. What if the key to success was simply being true to yourself and your story?

In this episode of Midwest Mindset (A.K.A the Omaha podcast) Mike Tyler from the Todd n’ Tyler Radio Empire shares with us the importance of Authenticity and how this helps your business longevity and growth.

Person portraying authenticity.

Why is Authenticity Important?

Being authentic sets you apart from the competition and allows customers to connect with your brand on a deeper level. This will build trust between you and your customers, which is necessary for a successful business.

Read the full transcript.

But how exactly will being authentic will help me grow my business? Why does it matter?

When people recognize something special about a product or service, they are more likely to purchase it because it resonates with them somehow.

Authenticity displayed through a mirror.

Authenticity Builds Loyalty

People don’t want to learn just about your business; they want to know who you are and who they are buying from. Humans desire emotional connection.

This way, when they choose you as their go-to provider for whatever product or service you offer, they know their money is going towards something or someone that has to mean for them. That’s how you build loyalty.

Sure, the experience and quality of your services matter, but that feeling or proximity makes the difference. They believe in your brand.

So how do I make people believe in me? How do I show them that I am an authentic person or brand?

An authenticity wood lettering.

How Can You Cultivate Authenticity?

Like MikeTaylerr said, “We’ve shared a lot of our personal life over the years and sometimes too much. I admit that… But that makes you more human.

Your content reflects how you and your brand are, so it should always be genuine, honest, and human-centered to make meaningful connections with customers. By sharing what you care about, you become authentic.

Don’t be something you are not:

Don’t try to be something that you are not. If you focus on becoming like other, more successful businesses, you will lose your essence.

Trust your instinct

your brand will benefit from having a personality; people will recognize it and want to do business with you. However, if this personality constantly changes, they will go somewhere else.

Trust your instinct. This is the best way to stay true to your brand personality. Turn down opportunities that you don’t feel right or don’t fit your brand. Be faithful to your story

Stand out from the rest:

Use your uniqueness as an advantage; how you are and what you believe can become a personality trait for your brand, and people love that. They will remember things you say, phrases you often use, or silly expressions that accompany your brand.

All this will make you stand out from the rest of your competition.

Starting out small can be daunting, especially when you’re trying to grow your business while competing in a big industry. Don’t let that stop you from achieving your goals. With the right strategies and a lot of drive, you can go from the basement to the big time

In this episode of Midwest Mindset, formerly The Omaha Podcast, we talk to Van Deeb, who shares his success story, one that started in the basement of his house and grew into one of the most successful real estate companies in Omaha.

When Van Deeb launched his first company,  he quickly realized that success in business does not come overnight. It takes a lot of hard work, time, and doing things differently.

Focus on how to grow you business

Drive, Desire, Determination, and Discipline

Read the full transcript

There is no perfect recipe for business growth; there’s no superpower one must have to operate a business successfully. But there is one common denominator between successful business people: Drive, Desire, Determination, and Discipline.

Anyone with these four characteristics can become a successful business leader. If you want to grow into something extraordinary, these key factors will help you achieve your goals.

Having drive, desire and determination are parts on how to grow your business.

Learn as Much As You Can

Of course, having Drive, Desire, Determination, and Discipline is essential; it’s the foundation of your success. But before jumping right into starting your own business, you have at least some experience in the market you are going for.

Work for other companies to learn as much as possible before branching out on your own. Take your time, and this might take a few years to gain some experience. This will help you become an expert in your field, not only so that you know what you are doing but finding areas you can improve and thighs you might want to do differently in your own business.

Be an Equal Among Your Employees

The secret of successfully running a business Is to treat everyone equally, not just customers but all your employees. Show respect for everyone involved in the process, no matter their position or rank within the company hierarchy.

Put people first; listen to their ideas and be willing to change things if needed. This will demonstrate that you value those who work with you, which will foster loyalty and create a positive working environment that leads to success.

Team discussing how to grow your business.

Do thing differently

While it may be tempting to replicate the strategies of those who are already successful in the industry, this will not be innovative for YOUR business and won’t help you grow.

Look at what others in the field are doing and find opportunities for improvement and add value to them. This might be as simple as how you treat your employees and customers to having a never seen product or service before.

By innovating and doing things differently, you will stand out for your competitor and bring in new customers.

Just remember: success doesn’t come overnight. Have patience and be consistent… slowly but surely, you will start to see the results in your business growth.

A Subscription Business Model: Make Your Customers Come Back

Every business owner’s dream is recurring revenue and loyal customers, but how do you get customers to return again and again? The answer might be in a Subscription Business Model.

In this episode of the Midwest Mindset Podcast (or the Omaha Podcast), Jennifer Lea shares with us the magic of a subscription model and why it might be ideal for you.

Jennifer has built her company Entry Envy into a success using this very approach. Business is really all about finding creative solutions and having returning customers. want to know if the subscription model is for you? here’s what you need to know.

Monthly care packages are an example of a subscription business model

What is a subscription base model?

Read the full transcript

The subscription model is basically a type of service where customers pay for products or services on a recurring basis. This could be weekly, biweekly, monthly, or even yearly depending on the type of product or service that your business offers.

In the case of  Entry Envy, Jeniffer created a subscription box of personalized welcome entry signs that are convenient and beautiful. customers can decide between receiving them monthly or seasonally.

A subscription box is a subscription business model

Why do I need a Subscription Business Model?

The benefits of a subscription business model are endless, that’s why they have become increasingly popular over the years. The most impressive thing about them is their ability to increase customer loyalty and engagement levels

By offering customers the option to pay on a recurring basis, businesses are able to build better relationships with them. Additionally, having a steady stream of revenue can help businesses better estimate their budgets and forecast future growth opportunities.

Can my business use a Subscription Business Model?

The subscription model is especially beneficial for companies that have products or services with ongoing value or use cases.

A great example will be Netflix or Hulu, they use this model because it’s more convenient for consumers to pay a monthly fee to see all of their catalogs without having to pay per movie or episode.

There might be businesses that don’t benefit from this business model, like companies that sell one-time services or products.

Photo referencing a subscription business model

How do I start my subscription business model?

Before you start implementing the subscription model in your business, there are several steps you should take first:

1- Keep it simple

Jennifer said it perfectly: “I knew that you have to keep it simple in business”

This means that you should focus on offering only the essentials. You don’t want to overwhelm customers with too many choices or services that are unnecessary for them

2- Have a platform to manage your subscription

Having a reliable platform will help ensure that your customers have an easy time signing up to your subscription service.

This also makes it easy for you to manage all of your subscribers’ information. Take the time to look at the available options and find the one that works better for your business needs.

3- Make sure is profitable

Finally, make sure that your subscription business model is profitable. This means understanding the need for your products in the market.

When you are actually satisfying a client’s needs and providing quality service, your customers will stay subscribed. This will create predictable revenue for your business.

All in all, starting a subscription business model requires careful planning upfront but can be extremely lucrative if done right!

The key for businesses is a subscription business model

why do business fail?

Lack of Capital

Many businesses fail because they simply don’t have enough money to sustain themselves in the early years. This can be due to underestimating the start-up costs or overestimating the potential revenue.

Poor Marketing

In order for a business to succeed, it needs to be able to reach its target market and persuade them to buy its products or services. If a business doesn’t have an effective marketing strategy, it will struggle to generate sales and will eventually go under.

Customer Base

Even if a business has a great product or service, it won’t survive if there aren’t enough potential customers out there who are willing to buy it. This is why it’s so important to research your target market before starting your business.

How To Boost Your Business Chances For Success

Make sure you have enough capital to sustain yourself in the early years. It’s better to err on the side of caution and raise more money than you think you’ll need than to find yourself short on cash when you need it most.
